Baby Christmas Onsie

I made this onsie and skirt from a Christmas turtle neck I had bought my daughter a few years ago.  It was Baby Gap, on sale for $2.99 after the season.  Well, like many things, I forgot about it.  And I found the 2T shirt this year, and my daughter is 5.
Now that I am sewing, I have seen so many cute things to make for little girls and babies.  At 5, my daughter is starting to outgorw many of the cutsie things (and the ruffle-butts!)  I have a friend who has a 5 mo. old.  So I decided to make something for her.  Hopefully she will wear it once!
I went from Baby Gap Turtleneck:

To baby skirt and onsie with Christmas Tree Applique:

I attatched the turtle neck to the bottom of the skirt for a fold-down waist.  Then I took some extra material and cute out a tree and appliqued it to the onsie.  I cut out some circles and made a little flower for the top of the tree.  I was going to make ruffles for the butt, but didn’t have enough fabric.  I think it is cute as it is!
